Question: Why is it that when there are perfectly real and valid things to criticsize…?
… conservatives will continue to hallucinate additional ones?

It’s always mystified me how, whenever a politician on either side says or does something stupid, you’ll find people who distort it to something even more stupid and criticize that instead. But what’s really weird to me is that when the Obama administration is creating all kinds of grounds for valid criticism, there are people claiming things like “he wants to ban fishing”. What he actually did was create a task force to look into conservation measures. That might lead to some limits being placed on sport fishing, but with the goal of making sure the fish populations don’t die out, so if anything the goal is to preserve sport fishing.

liberals will put people out of work…obama has already cut off water to california farmers…why would it surprise anyone that he would also outlaw fishing?

There are a lot of factors to take into consideration when picking out a deep sea charter. You do not only have to look for one that is professional and reputable, but you also have to find one that can meet your personal needs. Thus, before you go out to sea, you have to decide on exactly what it is that you really want from the trip.

What Kind Of Experience?

Your main concern must be to decide on the type of experience that you want to get. Is it wreck and reef fishing that you want? How about inshore fishing? Probably you’re interested in getting a charter which specializes on targeting specific types of specie, like billfish, tarpon, etc.? Factors like these would definitely depend on what place in the world you’ll be fishing in. For instance, if you’ll be fishing from the Gulf of Mexico, you would have different options if you’ll be looking for a deep sea charter in Northern California.

What Kind Of Level?

Second, you should decide on the level that you want to fish in. There’s a big difference between charters catering to novice fishermen than those designed for experienced ones. Nevertheless, the great thing about charter boat’s abundance is that they have one for any kind of level.

Some specialize on catering to beginners and families, while some specialize in bringing more experienced anglers out to sea. A lot of charter services can actually offer you several options. Most likely, charter boat captains would offer trolling options, which is especially for novice anglers, families, and even kids. For instance, a lot of charter boats situated in Southern Florida can take their patrons trolling during spring and fall months, in which they are given the opportunity to have 6 hours hunting some redfish, dolphin, etc.

However, high speed trolling would be a great choice if you’re an experienced one that lack some of the equipments to have your own expedition. This is best done around summer months, which is when conditions are best set to catch bigger game fish, like bull dolphin, sailfish and yahoo.

Ask! Probably the best advice when looking for a charter would be directly asking the captain exactly what it is that they offer, and can offer. You would definitely don’t want to be wasting money and time on an adventure that is not really tailored for your needs. A lot of charter services are actually up front regarding the different choices of service that they can offer. Thus, you have the ability to determine what type of charter would be the best for you!

Money Matters

After deciding on the type of experience you would want, now it’s time to settle on how much you’re willing to pay for the trip. In general, smaller boats that have the capacity of 2-4 people
have a typical price of $200-$400. If you want to get a bigger boat for a whole day trip, prices usually play around $900-$1,200. Additionally, factors like the charter’s reputation play a role on how much they
charge.

Also, put up a flyer at work to get some co-workers to go with you and split the costs. You can use products from adobe to make the flyer and get a coupon from adobe coupons.

Playing It Safe

Although most charters are headed by quality, experienced individuals, there are some occasional shady characters that might try to sell their services to you. If this is the case, you should try checking their reputation by asking people around the area and getting some recommendations from the locals. Doing this could mean having visits in the local marinas and bait shops. Basically, you should visit the docks. Another choice would be asking the hotel that you’re staying in. Such hotels usually have charter services that they usually use and can recommend to you.

Lastly, you can directly interview your potential charter captains. This would help you see what kind of person you’ll be spending the trip with. Most of the time, this method is the one that shows whether the charter service is reputable or not.

1) “Fishing by hand is no bucket of bass”. What is “bucket of bass”?
2) “This is survival, and that’s about all”. What is “that’s about all”
3) “The next day B and C make much sport of A’s invention”. What is “make much sport of”?
4) “A is nobody’s fool”. What is “nobody’s fool”?
5) What does this phrase mean: “Not everybody is cut out for self-deprivation”?
6) “I might want to eat them if I’m ever sick or something happens”. What is ” If I’m ever sick”
7) “man, what a pig-out”. What is “what a pig-out”? 8) Why they use “2 fish” instead of “2 fishes”

Thank you very much!

Answer by lilmegsx1
I’m English and I’m sorry but I can only help you with a few of the numbers.

4) By nobody’s fool I believe they mean “A” doesn’t do what anyone one wants and nobody controls him.

5) Not everybody can stand to deprive (go without) themselves of something.

7) To “pig out” is a phrase used to describe eating a lot of food sometimes very messily.
8) I don’t know why we do this, it’s just an unusual grammar rule we use for example we say 2 sheep instead of 2 sheeps.

I really hope I helped :) x

Not every saltwater angler owns a boat. Now, that would be seen by most people as an apparent limitation to their ability and opportunity for fishing. How would you go saltwater fishing without a boat? Adding to this misconception is the fact that most fishing magazines feature pictures and articles about fishing that usually involves having a boat. And not just any boat. Take a look at some of those articles and you’ll find expensive boats with all the bells and whistles. This has disheartened many a potential fisherman, making him feel like he can only share in the joys of these great fishing adventures by reading about them.

They are seen in fishing piers everywhere, some with expensive tackle, some well-worn and taped together. Their tackle boxes also come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, as long as it can be carried or wheeled easily to the pier. Perhaps the lack of a boat has led them to develop an uncanny sense for creativity and innovation, because you’ll be amazed at the things you’ll find in most tackle boxes used by these pier anglers. The fishing community is very tight. They share techniques, ideas, and money saving tips with each other often. Since fishing can be an inexpensive hobby, using deals like ringcentral coupons can help it stay that way. In fact, lots of so-called “original” products that are marketed for pier fishermen were inspired by the original designs that are regularly used by these people everyday.

Before some non-believers begin to scoff at the skills of pier fishermen, let me say that pier fishing is an art all its own. Nobody can just plunk a chair down at a pier and start hauling in fish every minute, without the skills born by experience. Pier fishermen develop an innate sense about where the action is. Since most of the fish generally come in waves, it’s going to be very difficult getting even one bite if you don’t know where and when to cast. You can usually find them bottom fishing, hauling in two or three catches at a time. How they do that is beyond me. Pier rats just have a way of knowing when to reel in their line after hooking more than one fish.

And if you start thinking that bigger catch like mackerel and king mackerel are unreachable for pier fishermen, think again. Have you ever seen those people at the end of the pier using all sorts of weird-looking contraptions specially designed to float live bait just under the surface? They use kite rigs, too, so that they can fish as far off the pier as possible. I’ve seen perhaps a dozen contraptions that deserve a patent on the spot. Mostly these folks use a technique called the “two rod approach”. This is where they use a heavy fishing rod with the bail open and another lighter rod where the bait is attached to. They cast out, the line is placed several yards off the pier, and when a fish bites, the bait rod is pulled back, leaving the fisherman with the heavier one to fight the fish with.

However, don’t expect to see pier fishermen release their fish after catching them. Most of these folks go fishing for dinner, not for getting the big one to show off on a mantelpiece. They come to enjoy fishing, talk and socialize with each other, and even to help a few beginners that appear to need it. They are a special breed and possibly have more patience, inventiveness, and endurance than any other fishing group.

Question: Just out of curiosity………?
Has anyone else been experiencing problems with their Yahoo! Answers and/or Yahoo! email?

I know this question doesn’t belong in “All Categories > Sports > Outdoor Recreation > Fishing” but I feel more comfortable asking here ’cause this pretty much the only section where I answer questions. Thanks.
Haha. Nice try to whoever reported my question.

Question: Who here agrees with Stephon Marbury?
“What Michael Vick did was wrong. However, he should be given a second chance, as others have received for more serious crimes.

We don’t react the same when other animals are being killed for sport or the sake of human pleasure (deer hunting, fishing).”

I think he has a point, an animal is an animal, they all feel pain (dogfighting, fishing, hunting, etc.)
i really enjoy all the different opinions and it looks like majority of you disagree with Marbury…i respect all your comments, personally im not against deer hunting or any hunting in general, but if you hunt just for pure pleasure or hang a deer’s head in your office…and not for food, then i have something agains that

Answer:

Answer by Stonewall Jackson
I would not hang my hat on anything that Marbury says. He is one of the stupidest people in America. I would give him a square peg and a round hole, and let him intertain himself for hours!

In its simplicity, fly fishing transcends the commonplace to become art itself.

Years ago I used to live in the Berkshires, the heavily forested and hilly land of Western Massachusetts, home to writers, theater folk, artists of all types. It is a beautiful place, a land rich with natural beauty. Its rivers and lakes boast trout of all kinds – brook, brown, rainbow, even tiger trout (a cross between a female brown and male brook trout) and fishing with flies is deeply embedded in the angling culture of the area.

The Berkshires are home to painters, too, and of these I count Norman Rockwell as my best example of a painter who grabs the inner heart of fishing. Rockwell, who lived in Stockbridge, Massachusetts from 1953 to his death in 1978, did homage to that ideal. All outdoor sports have their cache of needed equipment, and fishing is no different. Every angler has his or her favorite fly fishing gear to port along. With the advent of the internet you can find good deals on rare fishing gear, in the same way that your saved on buying the ink with a 123inkjets coupon, you can find a site selling fishing gear that offers discounts. But it is in the quiet simplicity of casting flies, over and over again, that one begins to feel what Rockwell once said: “if it isn’t an ideal world, it should be so.”

Fly fishing is a game of cat and mouse, or fly and fish, true. Whether it’s Montana fly fishing, with its pristine mountain lakes and rivers, or a wilderness trek for Alaska fly fishing, it’s all the same.

Combing the banks, one is always on the hunt for the trout rise, trying to read its complex nature – bubbles? rings? nipping rise, or gobbling attack? – and thereby one decides on a fly and a strategy. But at the heart of it lies the desire for more than fish. One is after solitude and peace, and connection with a pastime which stretches back into the mists of time.

Or do you ‘Drown’?

NO, I don’t wanna post this under “Water Sports”, or “Pets > Fish”.
I prefer to see the ART in Human Minds.
I LIKED almost EVERY ANSWER here. Like every good swim, it ends as we pull off the waters.

Question: How should I design my class ring?
Okay, so the Balfour Representative came to our school for the sophomores just recently, thus it is now time for us to place an order. I’m just asking for answers according to TRADITION.

I’M getting a “Bass fishing” insignia on one side, and my jersey number in my favorite sport, football, on the other side.
…Which one should be on the LEFT and which on the RIGHT??

Question: Does anyone else watch WFN, (World Fishing Network)? ?
That Charlie Moore has grown on me, (and that’s sayin’ something cause I’m a serious Southern redneck! LOL). Every time I watch his show I think of the movie “Good Will Hunting” and those Boston accents Matt Damon & Ben Affleck were sporting.

I also like watching Blairs show “Addictive Fishing” for saltwater fishing.

Blair catches some good inshore fish, but he’s “pushin” Wright & McGill tackle.

Anybody heard any news on Wright & McGill rods & reels?
Adam- You should switch from Direct to Dish. 24 hour, no “info-mercials” after 12, fishing shows. And they have a good mix of Fresh and Saltwater shows, (not skewed toward 1 type of fishing).

Last night I watched shows about Alaska Flyfishing for Arctic Char & Salmon, Blairs “Addicitive Fishing”, “Bass Edge”, “Lunkerville”, “Gills n’ Finz” was catching (and boozing) for Marlin/Deep-dropping for Goggles in Cancun, Etc.
Brandon- Yeah, “Flats Class” comes on WFN, (it’s one of my fav’s). They know their stuff. Here in MN it’s -20 in the morning and warms to 0 by afternoon. I sure do miss Fla.
Airflo- You would dig WFN. So far, I’ve seen more well-produced Flyfishing shows than ESPN ever aired.
Red- If you like Roland Martin you would probably dig Hank Parker, Bill Dance, and Jimmy Houston. Check’m out!
Charles- Dude, you have got to get WFN! You would LOVE it. Lots of good info.
Upshidt- It’s channel 394.

Question: UK anglers — explain fishing to us?
This question goes out to UK anglers or someone intimately familiar with fishing in the UK and Europe. James W’s recent question…

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ajs2HdEVpLcOTmb7sx.oZa_ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100422020500AA0VKLi&show=7#profile-info-TeNIStN1aa

…and a few other recent questions about UK gear and techniques, like this one…

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao94_BuGLLLykOyPbH5XET4eDX1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100421091908AAP18Wp

…have got me really curious about the various ways you Brit’s go fishing. Izaak Walton and J.R. Hartley are prophets to me, and I reverence the UK because it is generally held that modern fly fishing is descended from there, but I have only the most vague understanding of what you guys call coarse fishing, sport fishing, carp fishing, float fishing, the private clubs, how fishing permits work for you, the very long poles, feeders, etc., etc. For example, you politely call carp a “coarse fish,” but you seem to make a distinction between “carp fishing” and “coarse fishing.”

If someone could briefly but clearly explain the various types of fishing practiced in the UK and any other interesting info that might help a Yank understand, I would gladly give you 10 points.
